Eyelid surgery - Saturday, August 11, 2007 2:07 PM
I am 47 years old and had my upper and lower lids done 3 months ago and am very happy w/the results. The only side effect I've had is having a pimple like bump develop on the incision line. This has happened a few times now. The first 2 times they went away by themselves but this third one has been around for a couple weeks now and, although easy to cover w/make up, it doesn't look like it's going away any time soon. It is not red or inflamed, it's just a raised bump. What can I do to treat it?

I would follow with your surgeon. It may be due to a suture. The body can react to the disolvable suture and cause a bump or pimple similar to what you are describing. It may need to be removed. You would want your doctor to do this to prevent unnecessary scaring

All eyelid procedures are performed in our surgical suite. We usually light sedation in addition to local anesthesia recommend. Both upper and lower lids are treated in surgery. Natural lines and creases on each eyelid marks the surgeon to use these layers to make any hidden scars. Lower lids, an incision is often lash line with hide scars. After making an incision, excess fat, muscle and skin is trimmed and the incision is closed with fine sutures. Surgery usually between 1 and 3 hours, puffy eyelids and numbness more than a few weeks is likely to last longer. Permanent stitches are removed in 3 to 5 days. Generally, patients return to normal activity within a week the heavy lifting, however, hips, swimming, extreme neck movements and strenuous activity can be restricted to a few extra weeks hooked.[<font]
