SF Plastic Surgeons - Sunday, November 13, 2011 12:27 AM
Hi everyone,

I am thinking of getting a scar i've had since i was a child removed from my cheek. i live in the SF Bay area and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good surgeon. i've been looking around 9 http://sparkah.com/2011/11/12/top-plastic-surgeons-in-sf-san-francisco-to-see-in-2012/ ) but any experience and input would be appreciated.

Hi Jossy.  Thank you for your question.  

First, be careful of where you search for plastic surgeons.  On the website you mentioned, they named the top 100 plastic and cosmetic surgeons based on 5 criteria, of which most have no bearing on their ability or expertise.  The criteria they based their list on are:  1) years of experience, 2) online reviews, 3) how easy it is to reach them on Twitter, 4) their school background, and 5) their popularity online.  Although the number of years of experience a physician has is an important factor, how easily you can reach him/her on Twitter or their online popularity does not necessarily make them an expert in their field.

I would recommend you find a plastic surgeon who is board certified in plastic surgery.  You may search for board certified plastic surgeons in the San Francisco bay area by clicking on Find A Plastic Surgeon at the top of our website.  When you do, you will be able to evaluate the surgeons' credentials, including any board certification.  When you find a plastic surgeon, I hope you will post some before and after pictures here on our forums.  I wish you the best of luck!

In this case you should want a correct guidance on what you are going to do. I just found a site which about plastic surgery when I’m surfing. Hope this will helps you with the matter.
