What is a good place to go to or a phone number or website to check a doctor's credentials?

I am wondering this, too. The only thing I know to do is to ask others you know who have had the same procedure you are considering. I wonder if there is a statewide or national board of medical specialists with whom potential patients can check? That is what I am going to look for. Good luck!

Hi Bina!! The best way to find out credentials is to see if the doctor you are thinking of using has a web-site and to log-on and usually it will have what medical societies he/she belong too.Also, it may have some photos of before/after actual work he/she has done.The surgeon that I am going to use has extensive photos so I can choose the "look" I am going for.Best Regards on the new you!! The state licensing board in the state he practices should have a website where you can check a doctors licensure and credentials. I checked the plastic surgeon I'm using that way.

Another way to check up on your plastic surgeon is to visit the state website and find the link to the medical board. This is a good way to verify licensure. Physicians with websitesalso usually post their Curriculum Vitae for public viewing. This is a document that displays schooling, residency, and the associations that they are affiliated with.
