PlasticSurgery in Brazil - Friday, November 05, 2010 7:33 AM
I heard about plastic surgery in Brazil and I would like to know why people go to Brazil to perform plastic surgery instead of pay the same price and do cosmetic surgery at home?

I came for surgery to Rio de Janeiro as I found confidence in the way they get their training: A Brazilian Plastic Surgeon has operated on hundreds of live patients during their 3 year studies vs in the States and in Canada where they only train on corpses:-(.
By the way, I did not find the price to be higher than in North America as there they have a real hospital included in their price which I know this would be not possible here in the US as the prices are much too high and the plastic surgeons here operate out of their consulting facilities.

I've waited a long time to have my tummy tuck, body liposuction and breast implants done because I couldn’t afford such surgery in the US. Last year I found a reputable plastic surgery operator in Bolivia, MakeoverTravel,, a medical tourism agency that provides affordable plastic surgery in south america with the board certified plastic surgeons and all inclusive packages.
My experience in Bolivia was GREAT! would do it all over again. The scars are low and my stomach has never been so flat. I'm 35 years old and had 2 kids that stretched my belly skin. No matter how many situps I did my abs would never get any smaller I have one drain and so far it's not bothering me. I'm so thankful for this site. I've lurking here everyday up to the date of my surgery. Find a good surgeon and go for it!
PS: My surgery all inclusive plastic surgery package cost me  $7,500 including
-  The Surgical Procedure
 - Stay in Clinic (unlimited)
 - 13 days in a 4**** hotel
 - Complete Haematology Tests Analysis
 - Implants
 - Pre and Post-Operative Consultations
 - Transportation
 - Bilingual Assistant)

I agree with John Edwards. Brazil is not the cheapest country for plastic surgery but it’s the best one in quality and safety. Surgery in Brazil is done in real hospitals (with ICU and everything) and doing a plastic surgery in the USA in a hospital will be unbelievably expensive!
I believe that paying “the same price” for having twice quality and one hundred times more safety is the same of saving 50 to 70% in surgery!

Although traveling abroad for plastic surgery can have its benefits, there are also risks involved.  Therefore, I highly recommend you read the following articles before deciding to travel abroad for any cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure:

Cosmetic Surgery Tourism Briefing Paper on the website for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons; and

Medical Tourism Is Not So Frequent and Not So Dollar Wise on the website for The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
*Always seek the advice of your plastic surgeon, physician, or other qualified health care professional concerning treatment of your specific medical condition.
