Fillers and eye damage
-
Sunday, May 17, 2009 8:25 PM
Hi, I had 2 syringes of restylane done around mouth and jaw line area...with in days I could not see much out of one eye. I have had alot of medical tests to rule everything else out and had 20/20 vision before this. I never dreamed nor was I informed that injections could cause blindness...then I started to research this and found info. on it on other sites and some research on it from other dr's... I don't think many people are aware that this can happen, but if anyone on here has heard of it, My question is "if it was because of this wouldn't I have noticed it right away? I can not find anything else that has caused this and wish I had thoughjt twice before I did it.............thanks for any replys, Sincerely, Depressed

Have you already been seen by an ophthamologist? I am curious what they would say about this. It is strange that an injection around the mouth would result in diminished vision. Please keep us updated on your condition

Hi....thanks for your reply....Yes I have seen every Dr. and am still looking into it. The eye Dr. said that the nerve was swollen and blood supply had been cut off to it, so to speak.....I had read that if a blood vessal was hit this could happen but I didn't notice it right away so didn't know if this could be related. I have since read some Dr's research that said this is a risk to the procedure ,but not one that people hear much about...It said that everything branches out in your face so it is all connected. Again though, I am still looking into this situation as it's been very, very, scary. Thank-you
