Eyebrow lift outcome
-
Sunday, November 23, 2008 1:51 AM
Hi I had a browlift 4 months ago. I went in because I felt like someone was pressing on my eyebrows and shoving them down. My plastic surgeon advised that to correct it, it was necessary first have eyebrow surgery as my eyebrows were drooping too much then follow up with an eyelid surgery. Now, I can barely tell the difference between the before and after pix with regards to the position of my eyebrows and there's little difference to my forehead wrinkles which to me was a secondary concern. When I manually lift my eyebrows only slightly (which I obsessively do now) it seems to me to make a significant difference to my appearance (more alert looking and diminished eyelid sagging). I'm beyond frustrated but for all the pain and expense, my doctor seems indifferent... but has offered a free Botox session to help! I feel like he did just enough to enable him to do another surgery and I'm left with a $5500 bill for no noticeable results. Would be able to advise what my recourse options might be? Thanks

Hi tjh, That IS a lot of money to invest, especially if you are not happy with the results! If it were me, I would get a second (or third, or fourth...) opinion. Did the doctor say, or did you research, that the end results may take awhile to fully develop and appear? So...are you going to take him up on his offer for Botox?

I did research and was happy with what I saw. And the conversations I had with my doctor were very specific about why it needed to be done but I have seen none of these results. Unfortunately, as I understand it, the condition won't get better only worse as the forehead and brows settle. At this point, I think I'm worse off physically than I was before...and I had to pay for the privilege. I took a contract job out of the country so couldn't do Botox but for me that's a short term fix to a problem that was supposed to have been solved by the operation. I also used the savings from Botox to justify the cost. Seems that there isn't much recourse with this either.

WOW Just Read your post. I have asked several question on line about the brow lift. I did find out that you have to ask for a forehead lift along with a brow lift. They are two different things. If you ask for forehead lift you get the brow lift also. If you ask for brow lift that's what you get they lift your eye brow stitch the brow in place to the muscle behind the brow. I think I would go to your own doctor complain about the brow's hurting and causing head aches. see if your doctor will send you some where else. also if you have Dr. office check your insurance. They might pay for it? Mine will, My brows make it hard for me to see. If you say it's for cosmetic reasons insurance will not cover it. Another thing you can do is go to another PS ask them if they can fix the forehead & brow's see what they say. It's free to go ask. If they say they can fix it the go to atty ask atty if you can sue the other doctor for the screw up. Tell then him? you do not want BOTOX. If you had wanted BOTOX in the first place that's what you would have done to begin with Later ICirisheyes in Montana

Brow lifts can be interesting simply because they can change much of your outer appearance to people. People say that you're soul shines through your heart, so altering your eyes in any way could be a drastic move towards altering others perception of you. Just be mindful of the results of such a procedure.

It might be worth bringing your before and after pictures to another physician to get a second opinion. If you truly think that your plastic surgeon took money from you and did not perform the procedures that he said he was going to do you should contact your states medical board for advice.
