Multiple Procedures At One Time? - Thursday, February 09, 2006 11:22 AM
Hi, I sent a personal email to Stephanie, but I'm not sure if I should've done that, yesterday was my first time at this website. My questions were, I seen a Dr. 90210 show on tv, channel E!, a couple of weeks ago and a lady had a tummy tuck, breast lift with implants, and lipo on her double chin area. She just wanted to smooth out some of the areas she was uncomfortable with, even though she was still heavy, to enhance her looks with what she had. Is this normal to have that many procedures done at once or even possible or safe? I myself don't mind being an amazon but would like to be shaplier and the procedures that lady had done is pretty much what I'm looking for, except for the double chin lipo, I don't need that. I also need lipo on my hips and buttocks, one of my hips are bigger than the other, or it sticks out more than the other side, unfortunately, and it makes my clothes fit even worse. I don't mind being full figured but just need to be smoothed out. I'm 5' 10", weigh about 280 lbs. and wear a size 11 double wide shoe size. I could never be a wafe or no where near it, but I just want to feel better about the way I am with a better shape. I do smoke and am on high blood pressure medicine that keeps it good and I do have Multiple Sclerosis also. I've had major surgery twice before in the past five years to my abdomin for a perforated colon and did'nt seem to have any complications waking up from the anesthesia or anything. I'm 42 years old this year. Thank you very much

Sending personal email to me is GREAT! You can do so any time with your questions. In response to your comment to E! channel, I did not get a chance to see the episode that you are referring to, however, multiple procedures would definitely be more painful to recover from. Many women elect to have tummy tucks and breast augmentations performed at the same time. It all depends on what your doctor feels your body can tolerate.

What concerns me about you undergoing elective surgery is your history of smoking and your autoimmune condition MS. Any surgical procedure posses increased risk to a smoker. Most plastic surgeons will advise that you quit smoking or they will not go forward with the procedure. As for your MS, you would want to make sure that the plastic surgeon you were consulting with was aware of all of your health conditions and medications. Certain medications can increase your risk of bleeding or clotting during/ after surgery, or may pose a risk for increase healing time. I have listed a link below that will allow you to find a doctor in Virginia. Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your information and the link to dr's in my area here. I must admit I'm scared of surgery, I had two deep abdomial surgerys that were nine months apart in 2000. I can't even imagine the stomach stapling surgery because I've heard so very much bad about that, most of the people seem to be sickly alot with trying to live that way and knowing it's not reversable, it just does'nt seem a way for me to go at all. I just wanted to throw that in as I've considered all possibilities. I think there is alot of full figure women out there that would realisticly be more satisfied with a shaplier body as a goal more achievable and possibly give them the strenghth to continue eating more healthy to go along with it. Thank You Again

Paula
I am with you. I feel that there are more options for weight loss than gastric bypass. I believe that people should make a strong attempt to loose weight the good old fashion way before turning to gastric bypass. We all need to remember that weight loss is just math! You need to burn more calories than you consume! Good luck.
