Breast Augmentation Surgery is accompanied by soreness and a general feeling of discomfort for the first few days. Although many breast aug patients do say that the pain was no worse than having your wisdom teeth removed, each person is different and experiences/handles pain differently.

Recovery time is different for everyone. After breast surgery your doctor will probably instruct you to avoid activities with your upper arms for approximately two weeks. Light physical activity can begin about six weeks following your procedure. I recently posted some information about breast augmentation recovery on the 29th of December, this information posted above.

Recovery from a tummy tuck also varies from person to person. Most people are back to work within four weeks, but you should not begin to exercise until you are instructed to do so by your plastic surgeon. Jumping into your exercise routine too early could result in complications.

Since the recovery time may be slightly different with both a breast lift and breast reduction surgery, check with your doctor to be sure!

I too have had breast surgery; however, I had a reduction and lift. What is an average time for recovery and also, how long after a tummy tuck do you wait before starting an exercise routine?

Yes, you can have a baby following breast augmentation. I would suggest waiting about a year after the procedure to become pregnant. Also, it is better to have the implants placed behind the muscle if you are planning to breast feed.
The cost of the procedure differs with each physician. You can call, or schedule a consultation to discuss cost with any plastic surgeon.

Hi doogi!! The cost for a breast aug. varies from surgeon to surgeon. Just make sure that you do your homework!! Check-out credentials and ask to see his/her work.Usually, they will have pics or a website to view before and afters.I would not plan on having a aby right after this sugery.But, again check with the surgeon.I have heard that it takes about 6 mos. to heal completely,so think about how long you want to wait.

Post op pain is different for everyone. If you do not wish to take pain medication from your doctor, you can certainly try over the counter pain relievers. If the pain is unbearable, you can always call your doctor and have something stronger called into your pharmacy. After having three children, I think you will do just fine! Discuss more options with your plastic surgeon prior to your procedure.

I am wondering what a "high profile" breast implant is? What is the difference between that and a regular implant? and is it more expensive kind?

Recovery time from breast augmentation is different for everyone. It depends on the technique used, the location of the implant (in front of, or behind the muscle), and the type of implant used. After having a breast augmentation, the tissues will heal faster if you avoid excessive movement of the upper arms. I am sure that you were probably instructed not to raise your arms above your shoulders and to avoid driving/ exercising for several weeks.

As far as when you will feel "normal"... Nerve regeneration can take up to a year. You may have lost feeling on certain parts of your breasts following surgery, but it should return with time. Pain and discomfort should resolve within three months, and at six weeks, most of your bruising should be gone, and the incision site should be healing well. Give scars time to fade and soften. In a year they will hardly be noticeable.

Remember that your body is accepting foreign objects. It takes time and patients, but eventually you will forget that you have implants! Six weeks is still early in your recovery. You should be feeling better every month!

I am still researching.I am doing an aug.sometime in '06.My issue is that I HATE prescription pain meds. Could I just get by w/an advil or ALEVE? How intense is the pain? I have had 3 kids, so my pain tolerance is fairly high.Would like any one's comments or experience .

I'm no doctor, but I have heard hundreds of times that it takes anywhere from 6 to 12 months before your breasts settle and heal all the way to what will be normalcy for you from there after. It takes quite some time for the swelling and such to go away and for implants to drop and sort of settle in, you know?

I went through the same thing when I got mine done, except they only started feeling normal after like 2 months... I found a good website that talks about the recovery time and all that. Definitely contact your surgeon like Suzanne said, but in the meantime, this is a pretty good source! Good luck!

I have been researching Breast Augmentations and recovery can range form 4 to 8 weeks. But if compactions develop recovery can take longer. I would take the previous poster advice and talk to you doctor if you have any question or concerns.
