I had breast reduction surgery 6 1/2 years ago. I am very happy with my size, despite the fact that I have no feeling in one breast. What started out as scar tissue in both breasts has now severely calcified and neither I nor my OB/Gyn can do a proper breast exam. I have had a couple mammograms done showing that the scar tissue turned to calcification, but there is no way to show if there is any breast disease going on. My gyn. says I need to go back to my Plastic Surgeon to be examined (he only saw me one time after my surgery) and that the calcified tissue should be removed. Would/should that be paid for by me, insurance, or the Plastic Surgeon. Do I have any options? Has anyone else experienced a botched reduction like this?

I would suggest having a consultation with at least two plastic surgeons to discuss possible removal of the calcified tissue. Your plastic surgeon may also be able to tell you at that time if the procedure could possibly be covered by insurance. Take your time in selecting your next physician. You should feel comfortable with whom ever you choose.
