Breast Reconstruction
-
Sunday, January 11, 2009 3:22 PM
I had breast cancer and had to have my right breast removed. I went with a tram flap, but it failed. I am now going to do reconstruction via implant. My question: should i have implants done on both breasts for symmetery? Any information would be appreciated.

hello TKlein! Welcome to the forums! This is a question just about every patient going through this type of procedure asks themselves. Depending upon the size and shape of your left breast, your doctor may feel that he can properly match the implant or he may recommend having both sides done. If you can afford it and don't mind that small extra bit of discomfort in the healing process, I would say that its not a bad idea. Perhaps having two new perky breasts may give you a wider smile and a little extra bounce in your step. ;)
