Crooked fingers
-
Saturday, January 03, 2009 4:03 PM
Hi. I have crooked fingers. They cause me no physical discomfort at all and my hands function perfectly, though, they play a huge role on my self-esteem, as I absolutely hate the deformations. My fingers are quite twisted and the joints between the phalanxes are a bit big, and so it seems like they are swollen on those areas. Is it possible to correct these deformations through surgery? And who would be the best option: the orthopedist or the plastic surgeon? Thanks a lot. P.S: I'm sorry for my lousy english. I'm not a native speaker.

Have you talked to your family physician or a rhumatologist about your condition? I would start there and see what his opinion is. From the photo that you posted the fingers do not look that bad. If they are not painful and you have full function, I would reccomend not doing anything. The hands are very delicate! I wouldn't try to fix them if its not necessary
