ENT or Plastic?

I have a deviated septum, to the point where I breathe out of my left nostril. I also have wanted to get my nose "aesthetically manipulated," if you will, since middle school when I was teased endlessly by a group of boys. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out if my best bet is an ENT or a Plastic, considering I want both a septoplasty and to shave down my bump and refine the end of my nose a bit. I figured the ENT would be my best bet because we could work with the insurance company to make it a little cheaper. However, my mom has advised me otherwise; her argument is that the ENT would have less experience with plastic and could "ruin my face." Which makes sense. Is an ENT a good choice for refining of the nose along with a septo?
And also, how long will recovery take? Will I need to take off a more than 8 or 9 days?

I would say that an ENT is a good option but you need to make sure that the ENT you are using has done plenty of these procedures. Either way I think that insurance should help with cost due to the deviated septum (plastic surgeon or ENT). As far as time off goes, 8-9 days will be fine, but it is most likely that you will still have brusing and sweling when you return to work. Good luck to you

I certainly agree with Stephanie that there will still be bruising and swelling even after 8-9 days but if you wish to have a Septoplasty procedure done in order to correct your deviated Septum plus have aesthetic manipulation as well then you can certainly expect to have nasal packing removed within 2-3 days of surgery and the cast will be removed one week after surgery. Since this is a fairly common procedure now days, it is just as likely for some patients to return to work as soon as the nasal packing is removed. It is possible to return after the 3rd day if you don’t mind returning to work with the nose cast still in place, and as long as your job does not require you to bend over or do any lifting. I would not recommend one specialty over the other. Both ENT and plastic surgeons are trained in performing rhinoplasty. It really comes down to individual surgeon, not the specialty, that makes a difference.

Plastic surgery doesn’t just assist you enhance your beauty but it also helps in correcting scars that took place during an accident. Most often we think that women take advantage of plastic surgery, but more men are adopting it. ==========================
