Mythbuster Test Breast implants
-
Wednesday, September 24, 2008 12:20 PM
Just watched a re-run of the Mythbusters doing a test on silicone implants. The one test that got me was the high altitude experiment. Who would ever be exposed to 30,000 without being in an airplane? The experiment in a pressure chamber proved the breast implant would not break. Do the manufacture, of these implants; do test like the Mythbusted did?

I'm pretty certain breast implant manufacturers don't actually test their implants @ 30,000 feet, but most, if not all do subject the implants to high pressure stress testing.

I don't know about 30,000 feet... I haven't really researched that. Typically, it's not a factor that most prospective patients usually look into, I'm guessing. But I DID see the LA INK episode last year when Kat Von D went in for a consultation regarding breast implants, and Dr. Garth Fisher throws silicone gel breast implants against a cabinet to show Kat just how durable they are. I just thought that was really cool!
