Rethinking Reconstruction
-
Monday, September 22, 2008 2:50 PM
Hi, I am 39 years old and had a bilateral mastectomy followed with the expanders for implants. After doing more research, I am thinking that reconstruction may not be the way I want to go anymore. A girl has a right to change her mind, right? Well, I haven't discussed this with my plastic surgeon, however I was wondering if this change of mind is common. I put all my research in to Breast Cancer and the mastecomy, and didn't think that the reconstruction would carry so many risks with implants until recently. If I remove my expanders, what happens with the excess skin? Any help would be helpful Triish

The skin could probably be constructed to give you a decent breast If you dont want the implant I wouldn't get it.
