TUMMY TUCK & BREAST LIFT - Sunday, May 13, 2007 4:15 AM
Hi,

On June 5 I am having a tummy tuck and a breast lift with no implants. I will be leaving for a vacation on July 14 -22. Will most of my swelling be down by then. That gives me almost 6 weeks. I do know that the swelling won't be completely gone for probably a year or longer but will I look good enough and feel well enough to travel by that time?

Thanks for your help. I am really concerned about this.

Lori

I would talk to your surgeon about your travel plans. There are some restrictions to physical activity after both tummy tuck and breast lift. make sure your surgeon clears you. You do not want to compromise the end results. Depending on how extensive your tummy tuck will be, you may have a longer recovery. A procedure on your core (abdomen) will restrict your strength and movement for some time.

Stephanie, My PS says I will be fine and no one will be able to tell that I still have a little swelling. I may know but they wont. He also says I should notice a big difference in the contouring immediately even with the swelling but most of that should be gone however, I should take it very easy which I plan to do. I have one coctail party on one evening but the rest of the trip is under my control. I am asking for personal opinions? What is yours?

Again, it depends on how extensive your tummy tuck will be. I think after six weeks you should be able to go, but I don't think you will feel 100%. Hope you have a good time. Just make sure you listen to your body and don't over due it!

Stephanie,

Thank you for your response. I think I will be fine as this convention has no actual requirements so I can do what I need to do for my body. I plan on sitting by the pool ....not in a swimsuit of course and reading a romance novel....lol. How bad can that be? I just hope the swelling isn't visable to others through my clothing.

Thanks again for your help and responses.

You will probably be in a swim suit in six weeks. Just make sure you use SPF on any incision mark to avoid scaring. Enjoy your trip!
