Insurance After Elective Plastic Surgeries - Sunday, March 12, 2006 10:06 PM
Just wanted to find out if anybody has had any experience on the impact of their elective surgeries (whether it be breast augmentation, tummy tuck or liposuction) when you apply for either life or health insurance??
Since we pay for these surgeries out of our own pocket, how would the insurance companies know that the procedures took place in determining premium rates for our life/health applications?

With life and health applications you are required to report all surgeries and procedures that have occurred in the past. Usually rates on policies are not affected if you are not receiving on going treatment for past procedures. They are also not usually affected if you have had no complications from the procedures. You can always check with your health insurance plan before undergoing elective surgery to assure that your rates will not be affected.
