With all surgical procedures there are risks. One risk is deep venous thrombosis (DVT) which you already suffer from. Elective surgery might not be the safest choice with your condition. People who suffer from DVT are usually on blood thinners to prevent embolic events (when a clot travels to the heart, lung, or brain). The blood thinners that you are currently taking for your condition (DVT) are often tapered/ stopped prior to surgical procedures. Your risk for clotting during an elective procedure is increased. If you have more questions about having liposuction performed, you can always schedule a consultation and discuss options with your plastic surgeon.
