illegal filler in lips
-
Wednesday, June 03, 2009 5:40 AM
i am 31 ys old female and 10 ys ago a Greek aesthisian fooled me telling me that she was going to use a harmless filler in my lips(glucoze) and in 6 months it would be gone.she performed 6 injections in 6 months.the result is that the filler has not gone, it is hard and when i stretch my lips there is a yellow color mass from one cornet to the other.the aesthisian has died in 2 years with cancer, and the lab cannot recognize the illegal substance except from the fact that is an oil.in greece was a huge scandal with this case and many women had serious complications.my life is completely distroyed as i believe that i have a time bomb in my lips...plus the past 5 months i experience an instant pain on one side of the lip.all the doctors that i have gone tell me to not do anything with this because the substance is unknown can you help me with what should i do or if suspects what filler is this?both my parents have cancer and i am very afraid of this in me..should mistakes of the past be paid forever??

Likos86 you a in a bit of a sticky situation. Did you sign a consent for treatment? Did you pay for the injections? I have never heard of this particular product. As far as worrying about cancer, your family history would not be of concern in this situation. Only certain types of cancer are genetic. I would consult with a board certified plastic surgeon regarding this issue. You can also contact the local medical board that governs the provider that injected you with the lip filler. Hope this helps, let us know what progress you make.

Dear Stephanie, i have consulted the best plastic surgeons in Greece.Nobody knows what to do.the aesthisian who did this to me has died and none knows what was the filler.someone told me once that it might was paraffin but he could not prove it, as the labs cannot recognize the oil in the tissues.i am very afraid of the future and unfortunelly i cannot do anything about it.year by year the filler becomes harder and more yellow.thanks for responding....

likos86 There must be medical records available to give you more answers. Did you try to obtain medical records from the plastic surgeon that passed away? They are legal documents and must be somewhere. Let me know if you have tried to obtain them.

Likos I do not know of any physician in France. Be sure that he is board certified and that you can see before and after pictures of his work. I wish you the best of luck. Please let us know how things turn out

This may actually be a blessing in disguise. Whether or not the results of this procedure are eventually corrected, you will always have a greater appreciation for the way you naturally looked- before you became a patron of the plastic surgery industry.
