I think some doctors use a laser instead of the scalpel. The laser caused less scaring and heals faster.

do they use botox around the eyes? if so, this would be an alternative. You should check it out!

Hello Coco. Welcome to the forums! The cost of blepharoplasty varies by the doctor performing it, not necessarily the geographic location it occurs in. You may want to call around and get an idea for what the doctors in your area are charging and then call a few LA doctors for comparison. In the meantime, you can check out this information which should answer many of your questions, as well as provide you with a link where you can search for a doctor that specializes in that particular procedure.

Dr. Michael S. Schwartz (the surgeon I work for) charges about ~$4500 for a quad bleph. Our office is in Pasadena, CA, about 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles. We've got our own surgery center, so the cost for facility is much lower for our patients. And the anesthesiologist's fee adds about $600 to the procedure. If you're doing just the upper eyelids, it isn't necessary to go under general anesthesia (but probably a little more comfortable) and the price for that goes about $2500 without the anesthesiologist. We like to do the lower eyelids under general anesthesia because it is very uncomfortable for the patient since the incisions are made inside the lower eyelid (and so no scar is visible). And when doing only lower eyelids, the price is about $2500 + anesthesiologist fee. Very affordable. Eyelid surgery is actually fairly quick and simple ... As long as the surgeon is well experienced and skilled :). But, it offers (in my opinion) the *best* age-reversing effects with the least amount of risk and discomfort. Choose your surgeon wisely! Many of them are meat-market money-grubbin' dirt bags ... And so many are just sales people disguised as surgeons. But any experienced cosmetic or reconstructive surgeon should have the ability to give you great results with very minimal downtime and very inconspicuous incisions. Good luck!

Sagging of the upper eyelids is a surgical repair. If you are trying to correct the lower lid, you can undergo non surgical procedures. In the lower eye lid region you can have injections of Restylane or Juvederm. This would be more for dark circles under the eyes or loss of fatty deposits under the eye cause a fatigued look. Hope this helps. You can find more information by clicking on the following link http://www.plasticsurgery.com/eyebrow-lift/info.aspx
