drains in lift - Friday, February 10, 2006 11:51 AM
I am having a tummy tuck and periareolar maxtopexy w/ small implants. I have narrowed down to two excellent docs, and the one I am leaning towards will probably not be using drains on the breast lift. Friends who have had implants have told me that drains are a must. I don't know if I should reconsider using the other doc just to ensure I receive drains on the lift.
Also, one of the docs, I have seen their work in person and the other only through pics. Are pics and a phone call to the reference typically good enough?

It might also be a good idea to see that other doctor in person so you can get a feel for his personality as well, and ask any questions you need to!

Thanks for the reply. I have already met with both drs. One dr I have seen his work in person (as I know one of his patients), the other dr, I have only seen pictures of the work. Both drs had excelent bedside manners that work well with my personality.
Thanks for your input.

Drains are typically used after surgical procedures in which a large space or cavity is created. They are used in situations such as this because fluid accumulation is likely and the drains provide an easy way to remove the fluid

i had my drains in, my augmentation was done in the inframmary approach. i had them in on mon, and had them removed on wed. i would recommend them. i had seen alot of surgeries done. and my doc has always used drains. the big thing is you have got to have confidence in the dr you chose.

Hello,

Rather then listening to your friend, better you trust doctor because every person have different kind of body structure and if there is something different in surgery, it must be the necessity. Doctors have more experience and if you still have doubt then talk directly to your doctor about it.
