What is time frame for breast revision?
-
Wednesday, April 08, 2009 4:29 PM
I had an augmentation done two weeks ago. Immediately post op my left side was higher and larger than the right. As swelling is going down it is only becoming more noticeable. The right implant sits further over in the axillary area and further down on my chest than the left side. The left is perfect, in my eyes. I've tried on strapless tops and it seems to "highlight" the difference in the top of my breast. One is perky and rounded while the other sits lower and to the lateral side. When is a complaint to my surgeon warranted? Should I wait, or is it better to correct now?

If you are concerned I would not wait. Did you have any post op follow up with your plastic surgeon? The one thing to keep in mind is how your breasts looked prior to augmentation. Augmentation will simply increase the size, it does not change the position of the breasts. If one of your breasts was larger than the other before you had augmentation, the plastic surgeon should have compensated by using different size implants to even out the end result. Also, if you had the implants placed behind the pectoralis major muscle, and there is a very noticeable difference in implant position, there could have been a surgical error in placement. You should talk to your surgeon right away. If you dont feel comfortable with the answer that he/ she gives you, ask for a second opinion from another plastic surgeon. Good luck to you. Let us know the outcome.
