Upper Eyelid surgery - Sunday, October 30, 2011 3:18 AM
I had eyelid surgery on both eyes ..now I have oil bumps ..doctor had me massage with hot cloth some did get smaller. I have a large one on my right eye and smaller ones on my left eye.  Is this called Milia and did the surgery cause these oil bumps. I had the surgery last week of June 2011. Now I have to get them removed by the doctor (my surgery was done at the eye doctors office) and they want to change for this procedure. I think the bumps were caused by the surgery...cause I never had them before.

Hi Cathy.  I'm sorry you have had this problem following your surgery.  You definitely need a physician to correctly diagnose whether or not the white bumps that have developed are, in fact, milia.  Milia is a little cyst that forms when keratin is trapped underneath the outer layer of the skin.  This is commonly found on the skin of people of all ages, including infants.  However, milia can also develop along the incision following eyelid surgery.  Although the development of milia following eyelid surgery is not common, it is probably not a result of any negligence by your surgeon.  Many times, small milia may disappear spontaneously.  However, larger milia may need help from a physician who will probably treat it by using a small, sterile needle.  If your bumps are milia, the procedure should be relatively simple and not very expensive.  I hope this information helps.
*Always seek the advice of your plastic surgeon, physician, or other qualified health care professional concerning treatment of your specific medical condition.

Hello Guys according to my opinion the upper eyelid surgery treatment is used to eliminate the fat remains, reduce skin and sagging on that  the upper eyelids with age. Genetics and sun damage can speed up these changes. Young people also tend to have this process done to eliminate swelling of the eyes from genetic excess excess fat. Thanks a lot!!
