Recovery following a tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, varies from person to person. People who are in good shape with strong abdominal muscles tend to recover faster than people with weak abdominal muscles. Most individuals are able to return to work 2-6 weeks following the procedure (depending on type of employment). Swelling may take 2-4 months to completely disappear, and scarring will continue to change for 6 months to a year.

RE: Tummy Tuck - Friday, December 09, 2005 7:56 AM
I am a 35 year old mother of 3. I have had three C-sections and two other surgeries that have involved my lower abdomen. I am in desperate need of a tummy tuck. I went to a plastic surgeon here in town and was surprised of the cost. My procedure of a tummy tuck and some lipo around my hips and side area was going to come to about $10,000. Is this a pretty normal figure for this type of surgery? Is there any way that some would find this procedure medical necessary for insurance purposes? Thanks for all your help.
