Suggestions want lower face lift, ...

I am a smoker, the doctors don't realize when I am in consultation because I don't have the usual signs for my age which are the the wrinkling, high blood pressure etc *in fact they say I look younger than my age or very good for my age": So, we get as far as settubg up thesurgery and then they take a final glance at my paperwork and see I smoke a pack a day. I heal fast for my age and once again do not have the symptoms of a smoker just gravity. Is this a law that they can't provoide this service? I would waiver certain rights to have this surgery. Any suggestions would be appreciated *beside quit smokining" *still trying" Nobdy ever told me I could not get a facellife (lower) because of smoking. Do I have to go to another county? I did not know when I started smoking a very long time ago this would be a problem and in general people don't like smokers. Please don't be too hard on me. Thanks again.

RE: Suggestions want lower face li...

Physicians frown upon performing ANY type of surgery on a smoker. Therefore, they certainly do not want to perform unnecessary or elective surgery on a smoker. The reason being, you are at high risk. Smoking damages vasculature and can cause delay in healing, increased risk of infection, and increased risk of complications during the procedure. Most physicians will operate on an individual who has quit smoking for a couple of months prior to a procedure. You should discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Trust me, they are not being prejudice, they are only acting in YOUR best interest.
