Plastic surgery in Colombia - Monday, June 18, 2007 12:04 PM
Hello. I wanted express my feelings about cosmetic surgery in latin American countries or more specific Bogota Colombia. Last year in July we ( my sister and i) went to Colombia for plastic surgery. The truth is my sister did it not me, she got done a tummy tuck, facelift, liposuction of back arms, legs, abdomen and botox. Is she alive? yes hahahahah. everything went very well the people at cosmetic harmony wear great. One of the owners is American. Well to the point. I did the research for my sisters surgery and wear set on getting it done abroad because we have a friend that spend 9.000 dollars on a nose job with the best plastic surgeon in Coral Gables Florida and My Lord his nose looks like an "S" and the doctor is saying that is his fault, so all those horror stories you hear about spanish doctors are happening here in America even when you pay top dollar. Do your research first and if i can give you an advice don't go by price always afterall your health is at stake.

I Agree! You need to do your homework before you undergo a procedure. Look at before and after pictures, check board certification, check records for filed complaints! schedule at least two different consultations before deciding on a physician

I read tons of reviews on internet, forums, specialized sites in plastic surgery before taking the decision to go to South America for my surgery. I had my tummy tuck, full body liposuction and breast implants surgery done in Bolivia with MakeoverTravel, one of the most renowned medical tourism company in South America, and I am very HAPPY with my choice!
My exp was great the worst part was the first 7Days after that your still sore and recovering but it not bad. Love my doc, the medical team, my assistant Cindy is a wonderful person, everything was perfect. Sure I would go back if I needed anything else done.

I am only 4 months after and the results are AMAZING i cant even tell people how i feel. the last time I had a real waist i was a teen to see myself in the mirror and be amazed and to admire my body I cant even put into words... The key to doing a tummy tuck is picking the right doc. and location Not only did I love the doc the girls that worked there helped me with alot too. It was all worth it in my case.

I am only 35 but i have a teen son and a 2 year old and was in need of a TT... EVen my husband said I looked happier and I am always smiling. My doc said I will see more results in 3 months all I can is DAMMMMMMM the result now are amazing I cant wait to see myself in another month. I higlhy recommend MakeoverTravel, the work is perfect, they work with skilled plastic surgeon and tehir prices are very affordable. I paid less than $7,000 for all my procedures (TT, full liposuction body sculpting and breast augmentation)!!

Although traveling abroad for cosmetic surgery can have its benefits, there are also risks.  Before deciding to travel abroad for any plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure, I highly recommend you read the following articles:

Cosmetic Surgery Tourism Briefing Paper on the website for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons; and

Medical Tourism Is Not So Frequent and Not So Dollar Wise on the website for The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
*Always seek the advice of your plastic surgeon, physician, or other qualified health care professional concerning treatment of your specific medical condition.
