Is this about that SmartLipo that just got FDA-approval?

Smartlipo is not "non-surgical" but is less invasive than conventional liposuction. The procedure can be performed under local anesthetic rather than general so it is considered much safer. Has anyone had any personal experience with the Smartlipo? We would love to hear about your results

The results are very smooth and even textured without the need to perform painful suctioning.
Recovery is almost immediate and results can be seen at the time of the procedure.

It would be great to hear more about your personal experience. What was your recovery like, and were you satisfied with the end results?

The procedures were not bad at all. The worst part of it was the burning sensation from the laser. But, over all it was not a bad experience. I kept hearing that you could be right back to work the next day but, I think that is if you only have 1 or 2 areas worked on. Since I had six different areas worked on at one time, I was sore for at least a good two weeks. I am still waiting to see the results. They told me I should start to see results about 2 months after the surgery. I am very excited to have had the smartlipo procedure done. I am also trying to cut my food portions and walk on my treadmill everyday to get better results quicker.

Hi I had Smartlipo done 4 weeks ago. I am a late 30's male and had it done to one area, my chest. I am a bit overweight but with a little less than a 27 BMI, I currently workout 4-5 days a week including an hour of cardio and weight work. As I have lifted weights for a while I don’t think my BMI is totally accurate as I have a lot of developed muscle.

The operation for me was not painful at all; it was kind of nice to be awake to see what was going on. The surgery took a bit over 3 hours, they also used a small canola to suction a bit of fat out afterwards but it didn’t look like very much to me. I felt a bit groggy afterward and was in no condition to drive or go back to work. I really didn’t feel any pain that night, I have had 2 knee surgeries and this was cake. Second day I had decent swelling but still little pain. I went back to work on the third day but in hind sight it would have been best to take a couple more days off as I was a bit uncomfortable and didn’t feel great at work. My chest was sore, almost like getting punched their, this lasted for about 3ish weeks. I workout a lot so Im pretty used to sore so it was nothing to hard to deal with. The compression garment was uncomfortable and having to wear it for 4 weeks has probably been the worse thing for me. Sleeping with it was a pain. I had little bruising other than a one inch spot for about a week, the incisions are tiny and mine were all healed in about 4 days.

My chest does feel a lot different, a bit numb at times and a couple small harder spots, rest of chest feels very liquid. I went back to the gym after two weeks, mainly just cardio and legs and felt fine. It felt a little bit loose in cardio but not enough to warrant stopping.

As far as results my Dr was very upfront that it takes 6-8 weeks for the swelling to go down and that the full results would take around 6-8 months. At the 4 week point I still have a decent amount of swelling and they are still close to the same size as pre surgery. The shape does seem to have flattened out a little but not too much. I was measured by my personal trainer last week and my chest was down 1.5 inches from pre surgery so I think I have had some change just not a lot yet.

My main reason I picked this surgery was because I felt it was safe and I would have little downtime. I was willing to accept less results because this was such a new surgery and the alternatives I just could not handle. Worse case for me was it didn’t work and I wasted some money, $4,000 for me but I felt that risk was much better for me than being out a longer period from liposuction and having the increased risk of complication or death (I have a friend of a friend who died from stomach lipo because of an infection a couple years ago) and I wanted to minimize this risk. I went in thinking if I can get half the results my doctor is talking about I will be very happy.

I wanted to make this post because there is almost no other info out there on the surgery other than the promotional stuff and I wanted to share my case. I will try to update this so others considering the surgery can have a first hand account.
