Liposuction in Mexico - Tuesday, September 14, 2004 11:09 AM
I am scheduled for lipo in Cabo San Lucas Mexico with Dr. Miguelangelo Gonzalez -- Has anyone out there heard of this doctor and his work? I have very little information, besides what is on his website and the photos posted here. I would like to actually talk to someone who has had work done or knows of someone who has had work done by him. Please let me know -- I'm scheduled early next month and am so nervous!!

Hi - it may be too late to get the support you needed but there is a great support group run by patients of plastic surgeons outside of the US.

There is lots of info on liposuction in Mexico, liposuction in Brazil, Costa Rica, and the Dominica Republic. And because it is run by patients, there is no propaganda and middle men. YOu hear the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I did see the Discovery CHannel segment on your doc. I beleive he does great work. Please come over and share your experience sometime.

ps...You have to apply to join the site - just tell tham why you are interested....

Good Luck!

FYI -

It is a great site to check out if you are researching a plastic surgeon in Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and beyond. It is run by patients and free of advertising propaganda.

Hope this helps....

I guess someone deleted the link... but I wish they would not since it is a patient-sponsored forum, with lots of great info from other patients!

Hope this helps!

I have heared horror stories about Mexico and decided to go to Poland instead.  US patients are actually advised to stay away from countries like Mexico, Brasil or Argentina or surgery procedures! Europe is a much better choice.  I worked with Kari Group and had a great experience. You can check them out at.
Good luck!

I'm not sure but any surgery in Mexico will be more of a risk because they don't have as much tools.

Now a days many people are facing problem about fatness of their body. People could not control and take care about their daily food. Also people have not like to do exercise daily. so liposuction surgery is best way to remove extra fat on their body. I have also know about one very good liposuction surgery. Liposuction Miami provide really nice surgery for everybody whom are facing liposuction problem.

It's pretty natural to be nervous before a surgical procedure. However, it shouldn't be because you've never met your surgeon and don't know if he's qualified!

Regarding the comment by Janet above, having access to the right tools isn't necessarily the issue with plastic surgery performed in other countries. The fact that you don't have ongoing care is a problem.

So is figuring out if your surgeon is credentialed in an actual plastic surgery specialty and his/her track record with specific procedures. It's much easier to find that information out if you are selecting a U.S. surgeon who has privileges at a hospital.

The Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery has an alphabetized list of all surgeons who are board-certified in Mexico.  Mexico is second only to the United States in plastic surgeries and yes they do work in modern and fully equipped hospitals, please.  Obviously anyone who is going to have major surgery should be aware that it is real surgery wherever you might go and it is best to plan to stay around so your doctor can follow up.  There are other countries that have medical tourism but for the high quality of care, experience and affordable travel Mexico really could be your best option.  I am speaking from experience, I had my TT and breasts done in Cuernavaca.

Liposuction in Miami has a great long and successful history. If we consider the rise of liposuction, then very first procedure was performed in 1974, and with time, techniques improved and today we are at an advanced level. Liposuction can definitely help you out to lose from where you have extra deposited fat.

According to the World Health Organization Mexican hospitals are similar in quality and care to that of the US.  This is particularly true of elective surgeries which are typically performed in private hospitals and clinics with modern technology and equipment.

Yes those figures are slightly out of date but give you an idea.  I think this forum is pretty strict about any kind of detailed information but yes I had my work done in Mexico and it is perfectly safe.

Yes Robert the cost is less expensive in Mexico or in Latin America. For example in South America you can have a full liposuction of many areas of your body (arms, abdomen, abdominal flanks, back, inner and outer thighs...) for $2.800. I had my surgery in Bolivia and i am very happy very my results, the surgery there is less expensive than Mexico or Brazil and the surgeons are really great surgeons. I went at the MakeoverTravel clinic. I had many surgeries done at the clinnic but the liposuction was the less painful. My experience was really good. Pain was really managable. Had inner/outer thighs, stomach abdominal flanks back, and arms. I love the way I look in pants now, but I still wear the same size b/c my waist has gained but I love it!

The plastic surgery in Mexico is almost the same as with USA. So just choose where you are near.
