Liposuction for Arm Lymphedema After Breast Cancer Surgery - Monday, February 21, 2011 5:22 PM
Up to 38% of women with breast cancer who recently underwent a mastectomy and axillary nodal dissection may develop swelling of the arm, called lymphedema.  Recently, liposuction has been shown to be effective to treat the severe arm lymphedema that patients have suffered after their breast cancer surgery.  I recommend inquiring this option with your plastic surgeon if you are a candidate for liposuction to treat your arm lymphedema.
