I'm having a varicose vein removed - Friday, July 07, 2006 11:07 AM
I’m going to have a varicose vein removed. I’ve had it for years, but I’ve always been very conscious of it so I can say it had never bothered me. I thought I’d start a blog about how everything goes. The reason I thought I’d share my procedure with you is that I’m a man and I thought would not your usual candidate for this type of Plastic surgery? Am I wrong?
As I said I’ve had it for years, I’m now nearly 50, and have spent many years in trousers, never wearing shorts or going swimming in public in case people or friends see my wriggly vein!
But enough is enough, I’ve realised I didn’t want to carry on the rest of my life in this manner, and after consulting with a plastic surgeon it seems I spent to many years in hiding, for such a small operation.
Biting the bullet I’m going in this week, taking my laptop with me for regular updates. I hope you’ll join me and give me some input aswell.

Varicose veins are a very common condition in the United States and affect approximately 15 percent of men and approximately 25 percent of women. Varicose veins are the blue or purplish enlarged veins you typically see bulging out of one's leg. The word "varicose" is derived from the Latin root word "varix," which is translated in English as "twisted." Any vein in your body may become varicose, however, its important to note that this condition or varicose veins exists most often in the legs and feet. Varicose veins occur in the legs and lower extremities because standing and walking increases the pressure in the veins in the lower half of your body
