Doctor error? - Saturday, July 25, 2009 4:10 PM
Hi,
I recently had a face lift (just over 6 weeks ago) and I have a couple of concerns that I want some other opinions on.

1.) One of my lower eye lids was pulled slightly away from the eyeball and appears to be healing this way (ie: it is not going back as he said it would). Aesthetically it is asymmetrical which is something of a concern, but more of a concern is my eye waters and I'm worried about the health of my eye as I age. The eye won't tightly as it should...for a windstorm, for instance. Won't this be a problem?

2.)  there was a pretty huge gouge taken out of my forehead near the hairline but not under it (about a 1/2" into my forehead outside the hairline). It made a large scab and is now healing as a dent (it is about 1/2" long by nearly 1/2" wide in a sort of crescent shape). The doctor is reputable and assures me this will go away, but it is to the bone. Very deep. How could this have happened? And do you think it will eventually go away? As it is now there is no way I can wear my hair pulled back. I've been diligent about scar creams, arnica, sunscreen, etc. but I find it very wrong that this is on my face at all. Maybe these things do fade and disappear, but I've never had any kind of surgery and the whole thing has been rather a shock.

Your opinion?

thanks--
Stephanie

I do think you should continue to follow with your eye. My concern would be that your eye is not staying closed when you sleep. This can cause some damage to the eye as it will get very dry at night. Maybe you should consult with an ophthamologist and see what he thinks about the tearing weak eye. As far as scars go I would still give it more time. The best way to minimize scaring is no cream, its avoiding sun exposure. I also think its too soon to tell if you will have a dip in the forehead or if this area will improve with time. Make sure you keep in contact with your PS so he is aware of your concerns
