Breast augmentation and smoking

Good day

Please could you let me know, I have spoken to my plastic surgeon about smoking ciggerettes before and after my op but I would like to know, I smoke other stuff at night which i didn't want to discuss in person as i feel embarresed (please NO critisism) I smoke it because of insomnia and i suffer from terrible back pain.

I will be going for a breast augmentation on 07 Aug, i am not sure if it will effect me in any way with the op.
Is it safe to carry on smoking it or should i stop and how long before the op should i stop.

Please could you let me know urgently.

Regards

RE: Breast augmentation and smoking

Always stop smoking at least 2 weeks if not months prior to any surgical procedure. Smoking decreases the effectiveness of the vascular system (arteries and veins). This will in turn lead to poor healing and has the potential to cause problems while you are under anesthesia. I would also not recommend smoking for the months following your procedure to allow the best possible healing to occur. Many doctors will not perform elective surgery on smokers. I would listen to your plastic surgeon regarding smoking cessation, and even post pone the procedure to allow you enough time to stop. This is defiantly a safety concern, as well as a concern regarding the best outcome with your procedure.

I just read an article in our local paper that the "other stuff" you smoke is 5 times a harmful as regular cigarette smoke. here is the quote

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A single joint of marijuana obstructs the flow of air as much as smoking up to five tobacco cigarettes, but long-term pot use does not increase the risk of developing emphysema, new research suggests.

smoking would be a big no-no if you're under medications. actually, smoking is just a big no-no since it's bad for your health. why do some girls want to have bigger breasts?

fruits, veggies, lean meats, fish, and eggs would all be good options following surgery to help your body heal properly. I would avoid fast foods, fried foods, sweets, and fats.
