Breast Reduction

Hi, I'm a 21year old college student. I'm 5'4" and have double D breasts which has caused quite a few back problems over the years. I've been thinking about getting breast reduction surgery and was wondering just how bad the scarring can be and if it's worth getting now or if I should wait until after I start a family. If I was to get it before having children, would the surgery cause any problems with breast feeding or anything of that nature? Any information and suggestions you have would be great.

Thanks,
Meghan

RE: Breast Reduction

Hi Meghan
I think it would be smart to wait, and have the reduction after you have children. First fo all, the procedure is expensive, but could possibly be covered by insurance if you have back problems due to your breast size.
Breast feeding is a very important matter to consider. If you have the procedure prior to having children, there is a possibility that you would not be able to breast feed. Also, pregnancy causes an increas in the size of your breasts. It would be a shame to undergo a reduction, and then end up with large breasts again. The reduction would make more sence after children. Also, breast feeding can lead to sagging of the breast tissue. During a redution, the breast can be lifted again.
As for scarring, plastic surgeons are known for minimizing scars. I think you will be happy with the results.
