Botox or Botulinum Toxin Type A - Friday, May 09, 2008 6:38 PM
If a person wishes to self administer their own botox or generic form of it, why is it impossible to order top grade from official pharmaceutical sources rather than attempt to get through the black market. I'm sorry, but the prices are rediculous! I've had mine done at Dr. Kimberly Henry's office in Marin County, CA, and the results were nice, but not dramatic or long lasting enough to warrant the price. There needs to be more competition in the market to produce cheaper supplies of the stuff and make it available to average consumers who take full responsibility for messing themselves up if they do. Besides, if you're really careful and you do not exceed recommended limitations within a three month period, nothing THAT serious can happen. This is supposed to be America where people can take risks on their own if they are willing to deal with the consequences of doing so!!!

The FDA (food and drug administration) has regulations in place for good reason. It would not be safe for people to self administer Botox at home. Risk of infection, contamination, and product reactions, not to mention poor results, would increase. Medical professionals have to go through special training in addition to their medical license in order to administer Botox. If you are looking for results that last longer, I suggest looking into Juvaderm. The results of Juvaderm injections can last 6months to a year. Good luck to you.
